FUNDRAISER: Fareshare MCR x Human Appeal

As a company which represents talent from over 50 different countries worldwide, we pride ourselves in having an outward view on the world and have stayed true to this with our work through our foundation in 2021. We now want to start a brand new fundraiser, which will raise money to be split evenly between causes both overseas and right here on our home ground.

So far this year, we have supported causes in Yemen, Thailand, Palestine, Syria and Lebanon. We want to continue our work helping pressing issues abroad supporting Human Appeal, a non-profit organisation working across the globe to strengthen humanity’s fight against poverty, social injustice and natural disaster. With the money we raise focusing on their efforts in Syria and Gaza; rebuilding homes, schools, wells and providing jobs for those who lost them during the wars. Now with the Delta variant of Covid-19 ripping through the countries, even more hygiene and medical aid is needed.

While we continue to look outwards and support worthy causes, it’s important to remember your roots and we are a proudly British and more precisely, Manchester-based enterprise. To that end, we have decided to also support a more local cause with our next fundraising effort which will be highlighting the heartbreaking plight of food poverty in the UK.

Despite being the 6th richest economy in the world, poverty sadly effects 2.5 million children in our country. Shockingly, over 1 million of these children are not considered ‘eligible’ for Free School Meals. This important cause has seen great strides made in the last year, in no small part down to the support that Manchester’s own Marcus Rashford has provided after beginning the Hunger Campaign.

However, the issue still remains one which needs addressing further, with recent data showing a rise in ‘food insecurity’ across UK households in the past six months. We must continue to make our voices heard and do what we can to alleviate food poverty where it exists. With this in mind, we have decided to launch a new fundraiser supporting FareShare, a UK based charity which redistributes surplus food to almost 11,000 charity and community groups that turn it into meals. Impressively, over 1,108,064 people in the UK have already been provided with food supplied by FareShare which is also a founding member of Marcus Rashford’s child food poverty task force.

Keep on eye out on our social platforms as these incredible charities will also be using them to share information about how else you can make a difference.
