SS22 TREND’s – ‘Yes 2 Y2K’
Nostalgia prevails.
Over recent years the revitalised Y2K trend was going strong, featuring different aspects of the era across all seasons of the year. As we head into spring/summer 2022 it really does appear that there is no escaping this tenacious ‘cool girl’ trend .
In this new, warmer season there are varying levels of commitment when showing your dedication to the past. It could be an understated hint of reminiscence with a pair of knitted leg warmers or a full blown homage to the era in a full fit of excess denim.
According to ‘Edited’, 46% of skirts stocked online at fast-fashion retailers are of a mini style, whilst pants designed with a low waistband have seen a huge 21% increase since 2021. Designers are taking full control of this nostalgic trend and putting a modern twist on it, we have seen the return of velour tracksuits, midriffs, belly chains and of course, everyone’s favourite, cargo pants.
